Informations from the publisher:

Grandude’s inventions are the stuff of legend, and his new green submarine doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it flies as well as submerges! Grandude whisks the grandkids off on another adventure, but he and the Chillers soon find themselves in a pickle. Suddenly, it’s Nandude to the rescue! Nandude is an explorer as courageous as Grandude, with an amazing accordion-ship to boot! Between Grandude’s magic compass and Nandude’s magical music, everyone arrives home safely. But not before enjoying a parade, dancing rainforest animals, and a narrow escape from a grabby octopus. This tale is perfect for little explorers and Paul McCartney fans alike! Artist Kathryn Durst returns with glorious, humor-filled illustrations that are as beautiful as ever.

There are stories, you close the book and the story is over and there are stories, you close the book and the story is far from over, because it is so fascinating and inspiring that the imagination is stimulated and you go on your own story journey afterwards. Exactly such a book / such a story I would like to introduce to you now.

Maybe one or the other already knows the fun-loving, inventor and loving Opapi grandpa Edward Marshall Senior. He lives in an ordinary house on an ordinary street and he has 4 grandchildren who come to visit him from time to time. He affectionately calls his grandchildren the Krawaffels and when they are visiting, he always has an idea how to inspire them. Not infrequently, he goes on adventure trips with them and every now and then we are allowed to accompany them. But his adventures are not just travelling. They are crazy journeys with a lot of magic and inventiveness. If you now ask if there is also an Omama for Opapa, I can tell you that you will find the answer exactly in this story, because actually this is a Opapa-Omama story that begins on a very hot summer day, where it almost screams for cooling. The Krawaffels, Lucy, Tom, Em and Bob are visiting their grandpa, who quickly realizes that the four of them urgently need just such a cooling off and he already has an idea.
He leads them to his inventor's shed, where it is wonderfully cool. There it can really be endured. When Lucy discovers a picture of her grandma and wonders if she will see her again soon, Em comes up with an idea. They could look for their grandma. You must know that the grandmother is an even greater adventurer than the grandfather, who immediately picks up on The idea and shortly afterwards presents his latest invention to the children. A bright green submarine that hides many surprises and functions and somehow reminds of a large sea creature.
But the best invention does not work without magic. Good thing there is Grandpa's golden magic compass that can take her pretty much anywhere. It's also good that the grandfather already has an idea who can help them in their search for Omama and so their journey leads them right there. Of course, I will not reveal how the trip will look like and what awaits her at her first destination, only so much that really knows how to find the grandmother. They should "follow the sounds and watch the animals as they make the animals sing and dance". And so begins the second part of their journey, which will be full of adventures, surprises, encounters with the most diverse animals and sounds.
If and how they will find Omama? Wait! Dive into the adventure with Opapa and the Krawaffels, travel to different places, listen to the sounds, then you will get the answer. The book takes you on a very special adventure journey, full of crazy encounters, full of magical, crazy, funny and exciting moments, which the illustrator Kathryn Durst has captured for us in wonderful, colorful illustrations and takes the readers on the journey in her very own way. It is her pictures that bring history to life, let us marvel at us with fascination and let us experience unknown worlds and take us straight on an adventure. Just looking at the cover takes you away, captivates you so much that we can't wait to open the book and discover it. The cheerful cover, which already captivates with its special colors and the cheerful secured, is a mirror of what awaits us in the book. It is a magical illustration that not only makes children's hearts beat faster. For many of my reading children it is the most beautiful cover they have ever seen and not infrequently you can watch how a child looks at the book and sighs: "sooo schööön!" Fantastic and imaginative are not only the illustrations but the whole story, which becomes something very special from the interplay of narrative story and images. We often experience that the first book inspires us and the expectations of the second are disappointed. Here it is the exact opposite. The children agree, the second book is much, much more beautiful than the first.
Have you become curious? Then take a look for yourself. Travel with Opapi and the Krawaffels. Take a little break, let yourself be kidnapped, enchanted and maybe even inspired.
