Rosa Parks will hardly be known in Germany. That once there
was a strict separation of black and white people, no one can imagine today.
Neither they had to sit separately on public transport nor there were extra
schools for both.
This separation was abolished, among other things, Rosa
Parks, who refused to make the seat vacant at a bus on December 1, 1955, at age
42 on a bus. With this boycott and by some other important people like Martin
Luther King, a civil rights movement came into being that did a great deal.
This book introduces the life of Rosa Parker from childhood. She grew up as a
child with her mother and her brother at the grandparents. As a teacher, the
mother teaches her children a lot, emphasizing education, and doing everything
to ensure that her daughter receives a good education. After school she worked
as a tailor but also as a secretary. Their legendary bus boycott ushered in the
civil rights movement that caught on and became an icon, but unlike Martin
Luther King, it became more famous in the US than in the rest of the world. Her
life had light and dark sides, but she never lost her courage. Through her
courage and courage, she has moved and started a lot.
The author Lisbeth Kaiser tells Rosa Park's life in a
child-friendly way with a few but very intense words, accompanied by wonderful
illustrations by illustrator Marta Antelo.
Whoever thinks that little children can not understand yet,
wrong! Through the special narrative language and the pictures even the little
ones understand everything.
The book is more than a picture book for the younger ones.
It is a book that grows with you because of the large, clear pamphlet in which
the letters are clearly separated from each other and also a larger line
spacing was selected, even beginners can easily read the story itself. Short
sentences and a few difficult words also contribute to an easy reading. In
addition to the transfer of knowledge, the vocabulary is extended along the
way. Older children, thanks to a more detailed legend with more information,
have the opportunity to get more information.
